How conservative values can unite the community through common sense and better communication.

I’m Cory Miller running for Somerset School Board. I’m running because I see a real opportunity at this time to meet the community where they are. Many are tired of politics, and mostly tired of the division. Many unfairly place a lot of blame for the division on conservatives because we tend to be rather direct and honest to a fault at times, despite our best efforts to stand up for our values that have stood the test of time. If we can help promote unity by reminding those who don’t think they can agree with us on anything, that “tolerance and diversity” is willingness to listen and consider different ideas. If we can build their trust that we too want to listen to their ideas and can gently discuss the possible outcomes of implementing one or the other’s ideas, then we start to rebuild the missing piece of our Democratic Republic; Civil Discourse.

The tides are turning. So many who fell for the mainstream media’s relentless drumbeat that conservatives are terrible humans have since learned that they’ve been lied to by the “experts” and are quietly in their conscience thinking for themselves again. If we simply request a calm discussion, we might be surprised how much more receptive our left-of-center friends are these days. I have noticed a big change already, and I’m excited to keep boldly and cheerfully sharing my opinions and motivating more voters to turn out. We know based on the numbers that voter turnout is the biggest factor in conservatives winning spring elections. So if you’re reading this, please try to convince every conservative voter you know that if there’s a high enough turnout on February 18th and April 1st, we can continue the conservative comeback in our local communities. Local government affects us more than state and federal, so we should be more motivated to vote in the spring!
