SCHOOL CHOICE
The best way to protect the rights of parents/guardians to raise and educate their children according to their sincerely held beliefs is to provide competitive school choice alternatives. Every family is entitled to send their children to a public school that supports their children and the values of their family.
One of the most important civil rights issues of the 21st century will be providing an education for all students. Cultural and religious differences among residents should never be the cause for parents to feel forced out of public schools.
Social and Emotional Learning must be replaced by traditional academics.
FISCAL FRUGALITY
A small number of voters can turn out in an off-season election and commit the residents of the Hudson School District to large bond obligations. This is especially worrisome in a period of time where the financial stability of residents and our economy are precarious.
We are also experiencing declining enrollment in our schools.
Burdening parents and citizens with more government debt is unreasonable.
The school district must be willing to reduce budgets corresponding to the reduction of students in our schools.
PARENTAL RIGHTS
Teachers, Counselors, Administrators and School Board Members must hold the parent-child relationship as sacred. School district policies must protect parental rights. School personnel should have no discussions with students about personal physical health decisions or mental health decisions without preliminary contact with parents/guardians.
School personnel may not withhold any curriculum items requested by parents. A policy of request for and distribution of curriculum items will be established.
School officials shall adopt “OPT-IN” policies to replace “OPT-OUT” policies with respect to student participation in medical, social, family questionnaires and surveys. In addition, school officials shall require that all conversations with students pertaining to any subject other than academic instruction, (including referral for mental or physical healthcare services) shall require parent notification and participation.
