Thanks to all who attended the annual Caucus Saturday in person, watched the live stream, or were there in spirit only. I’m truly humbled to be elected to serve as your next Chairman and with God’s help will do my best to fulfill my duties and always serve the best interests of our members. I would like to congratulate everyone who was elected to serve in leadership positions, and thank those who accepted nominations to serve, as well as those moving out of leadership positions. We have great members, great volunteers, and a great leadership team.
For those who don’t know me personally, I’m a follower of Jesus, a husband, a father, a lifelong Wisconsinite, and a resident of the St. Croix Valley for the past 30 years. I work as the Director of Product Development for a regional medical device company, and I’ve served in leadership positions on church boards and councils most of my adult life. I have always followed politics and have now recently become more active, advocating locally for our God-given constitutional rights and liberties.
Our founding fathers had the wisdom to create a government based on God-given personal freedom and liberty, enabling this nation to become the greatest force for good the world has ever seen.
The Declaration of Independence states that we have unalienable rights from our Creator:
“We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal. That they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
The Preamble to the Wisconsin Constitution thanks Almighty God for our freedom:
“We the people of Wisconsin, grateful to Almighty God for our freedom, in order to secure its blessings, form a more perfect government, ensure domestic tranquility, and promote the general welfare, do establish this constitution.”
Article 1, Section 1 of the Wisconsin Constitution says we are born free, and government’s primary role is to secure our rights:
“All people are born equally free and independent, and have certain inherent rights, among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. To secure these rights governments are instituted, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”
Article 1, Section 22 of the Wisconsin Constitution states that a free government can only be maintained by frequently returning to fundamental principles:
“The blessings of a free government can only be maintained by a firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality and virtue, and by frequent recurrence to fundamental principles.”
Sadly, many who are given positions of trust in government and our highest institutions have abandoned their primary duty to secure our rights and the fundamental principles of freedom and liberty that made this such a great nation. Over time, our rights have been slowly eroded to the point that almost every aspect of our lives is now controlled and regulated by the state and its many agencies.
Our nation was founded on the fundamental principles of God-given freedom and liberty, and the Republican Party was established to preserve them.
“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.” ― Ronald Reagan
Let’s never forget why we exist as a Nation and as a Party. And let’s all join hands in the noble task of restoring and preserving freedom and liberty for the next generation. I look forward to working with all of you in the days, months, and years ahead. May God bless us all, and the work He has set before us!
