I wanted to share with you how impactful these past three weeks or so have been on my soul. As you may know I have been canvassing our vast county placing campaign signs from Glenwood City, New Richmond, Hudson, Wilson, and all communities in between over three plus weeks. Many of you have heard from me, saw me in the fields, or had me stop by with signs at your homes at 10:30 PM. I can only say thank you for your support of our candidates, and to The Republican Party of St. Croix County.
A few weeks back Mark Carlson our Volunteer Coordinator and I drove to Waukesha, WI on Labor Day to help Senator Johnson’s campaign deliver 4X8’s to Eau Claire, Dunn County, Pierce, and St. Croix County. Mark and I felt genuine honor to pay forward all the work Senator Johnson has done and continues to do on our behalf. During our trip together what I learned was how much I hadn’t known about Mark. I mean we’ve spent countless hours engaged in all things political, and now having 10 hours together, I have discovered what a fascinating, spiritual, and wise man Mark is. His willing to sacrifice his Labor Day to help me, our party, and Senator Johnson is time I can’t repay to Mark and his wife Linda. In addition, I’d like to thank Mark for donating his Explorer and fuel. Sometimes it’s a blessing to have the opportunity to slow down, and simply be in genuine community together.
The blessings had not stopped there because the offer of trucks and trailers came in. From Scott Miller, Dianne and Larry Joachim, John Betchkal, Matt Gerlach, and Mark Carlson. Furthermore, the offer of lands came in and a silo to hang campaign signs. The offer by volunteers to walk in the Hammond Day Parade, North Hudson Pepper Fest Parade, and Glenwood City Rustic Lore Days Parade handing out campaign signs to the spectators. Who knew so many people would take campaign signs in a parade! Ephesians 6:10 says “finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might”. Ephesians 3:16 says “that he would give you, according to the riches of his glory, power to be strengthened by his spirit in the inner man”. Nehemiah 8:10 says “for the joy of the Lord is your strength”. What I have learned through the visible works of the many is that; God’s strength in great, our strength is small, and we plead for God’s strength in prayer.
Lastly, to all those who have visited or volunteered at the headquarters to grab or give others their campaign signs thank you. For those in the community who have put signs out thank you, and to the many donors to the headquarters thank you. As Chairman my goal for the headquarters has always been to be a grassroots beacon of hope for those who lost theirs, for those who the Democratic Party left behind, to be the refuge for those who seek hope, to be the people’s house, to relentlessly encourage, educate, and to be the heartbeat of conservatism year around.
In closing, I’m reminded of a man by the name of Nathan Hale. I learned of Mr. Hale in the Constitution Alive course this past week. On September 22nd, 1776, Mr. Hale paid the ultimate sacrifice for these United States of America on whom we vote to preserve on November 8th, 2022. In his last ounce of devotion to his countrymen, he said; “I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country”. Let us not keep November 8th a secret and encourage our neighbors to the polls.
